The Operating Requirements in each jurisdiction require that the Authorised Signatory(s) has their identity verified in a face-to-face meeting. This helps to ensure the integrity and security of the PEXA network. 

The Verification of Identity (VOI) can be undertaken in a number of ways and must be completed as part of the registration process:

1) Directly with PEXA; 

2) Through a PEXA Sponsor; or 

3) Using one of our VOI agents:

  • ZipID 

    • To use ZipID's 'come-to-you' VOI service (currently available in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide metropolitan areas), you can book your appointment online and view pricing information at www.zipid.com.au/pexa.   • Australia Post 

    • To use Australia Post's VOI service, print and complete the VOI application form prior to visiting a participating Australia Post outlet. You can learn more about Australia Post's offering, including pricing information, on their website. The application form can be found here

  • IDSecure
    • To use IDSecure’s national VOI ‘come to you’ service available in selected metropolitan and regional areas and/or in-house verification solution, simply register for free by visiting www.idsecure.com.au/contact/. Who should complete a Verification of Identity (VOI) when joining PEXA?

A VOI must be completed by whoever executes the PEXA Participation Agreement. Those person(s) must be Authorised Signatory(s) - i.e. authorised to enter into contracts on behalf of the organisation. For example:

  • For an individual/ sole trader – that individual/ sole trader.
  • For a company with a sole director who is also a sole company secretary – that director.
  • For a company with multiple directors – two directors or a director and a company secretary.
  • For a partnership – a partner or those partners authorised to sign on behalf of the Partnership.

VOI documents

In order to verify your identity you will need to provide original, current documents (except for an expired Australian Passport which has not been cancelled and was current within the preceding 2 years) in one of the following categories:

Please note:

  • Certified copies of documents cannot be accepted.

  • If a Subscriber can satisfy Category 1 (or 2) requirements then they should provide these documents. 

 

Verifying the identity of your clients

In PEXA, it is the responsibility of all Subscribers to verify the identity of the client(s) they represent. Practitioners have two options:

  1. Complete your client VOI yourself; or

  2. Use an agent (such as ZipID, Australia Post or IDSecure) to complete the VOI

    • Please note that if you wish to use Australia Post to complete your client VOI, you will need to complete this Australia Post form

International VOI

Australian citizens and residents who are overseas must have their identity verified at an Australian Consular Office in accordance with the Model Participation Rules.

Note that category 4 documents cannot be used for VOI in a foreign country.
